LWV of Harford County, MD

Our Mission

The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

What We Do

The League of Women Voters of Harford County is part of the League of Women Voters of Maryland and the League of Women Voters of the U.S. We are active participants at the national, state and local level.

Action and Advocacy. Following adoption of an issue to investigate, studying the issue and arriving at a position through member consensus, LWV moves into the Action and Advocacy phase. Each year we set our legislative priorities, then we testify on bills, hold educational forums, send action alerts to citizens and issue press releases and letters.

Community Services. We strive to provide speakers for community groups, businesses, schools and organizations; election monitors and services for community groups and others; and to moderate local debates on issues.

Educational Outreach. We collect and provide unbiased, fact-based information on issues, produce and distribute pamphlets and brochures and conduct forums and community meetings on important local and state-wide issues.

Voter Service. The League of Women Voters registers voters, sponsors debates, forums and candidate nights and publishes online and printed Voters' Guides to inform the electorate prior to elections.
